How to use Duplicate Folder Matcher

  1. Start by providing the required input: Add a folder to compare.
  2. No additional settings need to be configured.
  3. Run the tool with Find Duplicate Folders.
  4. Review the result or preview on the page and confirm it matches your input before using or sharing it.

Confirming two folders are truly identical, not just similarly named

"Project Final" and "Project Final (copy)" sitting side by side might be exact duplicates wasting space, or might differ by a single edited file — impossible to know from names alone. Hashing every file in each folder and combining those hashes into one folder-level fingerprint settles it definitively.

Why this compares separately-selected folders, not a nested tree

This tool is built for the case where you suspect two (or more) folders you select individually are duplicates of each other — a different question from finding duplicate subfolders buried within one large folder tree.

How many folders can I compare at once?

Add as many as you want to check — any pair with matching combined hashes is reported as a duplicate set.

Does file order inside the folder matter?

No — file hashes are sorted before being combined into the folder signature, so files in a different order still produce a matching signature if the content is identical.

Looking for duplicate subfolders inside one big folder instead?

Use the Nested Duplicate Folder Finder, built specifically for that case.
