Folder Structure Generator
Type an indented list of folders and files and generate the real thing — download a ready-to-unzip structure or a mkdir/New-Item script.
How to use Folder Structure Generator
- Use these example values as a starting point: src/ components/ Header.jsx Footer.jsx utils/ helpers.js README.md package.json. Use Load Sample to try example data first.
- Set the inputs and options shown here: Structure (indent with 2 spaces; end a name with / for a folder).
- Run the tool with Build Structure.
- Review the results, then choose an output control: Download as Zip, Download as Bash Script, Download as PowerShell Script.
Turning a project blueprint into real folders
Writing out a planned folder structure as a simple indented list is faster than clicking "New Folder" dozens of times — and having that list turn into actual folders (or a ready-to-run script) removes the tedious part of project setup entirely.
Zip download versus script download
The zip download gives you real empty folders and placeholder files you can unzip directly into place; the Bash or PowerShell script download is better when you want to create the structure directly on a server or in an existing project without a zip step.
How does indentation determine the structure?
Each level of 2-space indentation represents one level deeper in the folder tree — consistent 2-space steps are required for the parser to read it correctly.
How do I mark something as a folder versus a file?
End the line with a forward slash (/) for a folder; anything without a trailing slash is treated as a file.
Already have a folder and want the reverse — a tree diagram from it?
Use the Folder Structure Visualizer instead, which generates an ASCII tree from a real, existing folder.
