Batch File Encryptor

Password-protect a batch of files with AES-256-GCM encryption, or decrypt files you've previously encrypted here — entirely offline in your browser.

Each file is encrypted separately and packaged into a single ZIP as .enc files. You'll need the same password to decrypt them.

How to use Batch File Encryptor

  1. Choose Encrypt or Decrypt. For encryption, add the original files, enter a password of at least six characters, and confirm it. For decryption, add the matching .enc files and enter the password used to encrypt them.
  2. Select Encrypt & Download or Decrypt & Download for the active tab. One result downloads as a file; multiple results are packaged in a ZIP.
  3. Check the completion message and your browser downloads. Keep the password safe: encrypted files cannot be recovered if it is lost, and verify a decrypted copy before deleting originals.

Why encrypt files in the browser?

Uploading sensitive files to a server to "encrypt" them defeats the purpose — the server sees your plaintext before it's protected. This tool uses the Web Crypto API to encrypt every file locally, so the unencrypted content never leaves your device.

Encrypt multiple files and keep the recovery password

Select any file types, enter and confirm a password, then download the encrypted output. Each file is encrypted separately with AES-GCM using a key derived from your password with PBKDF2; multiple encrypted files are packaged together in a ZIP. Keep an unchanged copy of the original files until you have confirmed that you can decrypt the downloads with the password you intend to use.

This is password-based file encryption, not a password reset service or a substitute for a managed key system. Choose a long, unique password and store it safely: anyone who obtains both the encrypted files and the password can decrypt them, while a lost password cannot be recovered by this tool.

What happens if I forget the password?

The files are unrecoverable. AES-256-GCM with a PBKDF2-derived key has no recovery mechanism by design — that's what makes it secure.

Can I encrypt different file types in one batch?

Yes. The tool encrypts each selected file as binary data, regardless of its original format. One output is downloaded as an encrypted file; multiple outputs are bundled in a ZIP.

Does the tool upload my files?

No. File reading, encryption, and download creation happen in your browser. The encrypted output is still your responsibility to store and share securely.
