Why a CSV that "looks fine" can still break a parser
A CSV can open perfectly in a spreadsheet app while still having inconsistent delimiters, stray whitespace in cells, or unescaped commas that break a stricter parser downstream. Normalizing delimiter, quoting, and whitespace in one pass produces a file that behaves consistently no matter what reads it next.
Choosing the right output delimiter
Comma is the near-universal default, but semicolon-delimited CSVs are common in regions where comma is the decimal separator, and tab-delimited files avoid quoting issues entirely when your data itself contains commas.
Will this change my actual data values?
No — formatting only affects whitespace, quoting, and delimiter characters; the content of every cell stays exactly as it was unless you enable whitespace trimming.
What does "remove empty rows" catch?
Any row where every cell is blank — a common artifact of exports from spreadsheet apps that include trailing empty rows.
Does this validate data types or just formatting?
Formatting only — for data validation (required fields, patterns, type checks), see the Data Validation Tool instead.
