Seeing exactly what changed between two text versions
"Something changed in this file" is easy to notice and tedious to pin down by eye in anything longer than a few lines. A real line-by-line diff — added lines, removed lines, and everything unchanged clearly marked — shows precisely what's different between two versions in seconds.
Why this uses a real diff algorithm, not just a string comparison
A proper line-diff (based on longest common subsequence) correctly handles lines that moved, were inserted in the middle, or were removed — rather than naively comparing line 1 to line 1, line 2 to line 2, which breaks the moment anything shifts position.
Does this work on code files, not just prose?
Yes — it works on any plain text, including source code, config files, and Markdown, since the comparison is purely line-based.
Can I upload files instead of pasting text?
Yes — upload a file for either version, or paste text directly; both work interchangeably.
Comparing spreadsheet data instead of plain text?
Use Spreadsheet Version Comparison instead for cell-level CSV diffing.
