Pick colours from any image and get the exact code

With this free image color picker you can read the exact colour of any pixel in a photo, logo or screenshot. Tap or drag over the picture and a magnifier shows the spot you are on. The tool gives you the colour as HEX, RGB, HSL and CMYK, ready to copy into your design tool, CSS or document.

It also builds a colour palette from your image. The palette lists the main colours found in the picture, so you can match a brand colour from a logo, take a theme from a photograph, or collect shades for a design. Copy the palette as a list of HEX codes or as CSS variables.

Colours are read from the picture as your browser shows it, so they match what you see on screen. JPG compression can change a pixel slightly, so for logos use a PNG and pick from a flat area of colour. CMYK values are a simple conversion for reference. Print shops use their own colour profiles, so ask them for exact print colours.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the HEX code of a colour in an image?

Add the image, tap the spot you want, and copy the HEX code shown under Picked colour. Use the magnifier to land on exactly the right pixel.

How is the palette made?

The tool groups the pixels of your image by similar colour and lists the most common groups, skipping colours that look almost the same. It is a quick, practical summary, and can differ from other palette tools.

Why do colours differ slightly from the original?

JPG compression and screen colour settings can shift a pixel a little. For the most exact colour, pick from a flat area of a PNG file.

Is the CMYK value accurate for printing?

It is a standard mathematical conversion from RGB, useful as a guide. Real print colours depend on the printer, paper and colour profile.

What do the contrast boxes show?

They show how white and black text look on the picked colour, which helps you choose a readable text colour.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image stays in your browser.
