Multi-File Compare
Upload several text files and get a similarity matrix showing how alike every pair is, based on a real line-diff comparison.
How to use Multi-File Compare
- Start by providing the required input: Drop 2 or more text files.
- No additional settings need to be configured.
- Run the tool with Build Similarity Matrix.
- Review the result or preview on the page and confirm it matches your input before using or sharing it.
Which of these files are basically the same document?
When you've got several versions of a document — drafts, exports, copies from different people — and no clear record of which ones are near-duplicates of each other, a pairwise similarity matrix answers it directly: every file compared against every other file, scored by how much content they share.
Reading the similarity percentages
A high percentage between two files means most of their lines match; low percentages mean genuinely different content. This is based on a real line-diff comparison, not just file size or a simple string match, so reordered or partially-edited content is still measured accurately.
How is the similarity percentage calculated?
The proportion of lines that match between two files out of their total combined line diff — a real line-by-line comparison, not a rough estimate.
How many files can I compare at once?
No fixed limit, though the number of pairwise comparisons grows quickly with more files — expect a short delay with a dozen or more large files.
Have one "correct" reference version instead?
Use Compare Files Against a Baseline instead, which compares several files against one designated reference rather than every file against every other.
