How to use Progress Tracker
- Use these example values as a starting point: Design phase.

Why a simple "% done" number is usually wrong
Averaging five milestones at 20% each gives you the same overall number whether one milestone is nearly finished and others haven't started, or all five are evenly in progress — which hides what's actually at risk. Weighting each milestone by how much of the total project it represents gives a more honest overall percentage.
Setting weights that actually mean something
Weights don't need to add up to exactly 100 — they're normalized automatically — so you can assign them based on relative effort (a milestone worth 40% of the work vs. one worth 10%) without doing the math yourself.
Do my weights have to total 100?
No — they're treated as relative proportions and normalized automatically, so weights of 2, 3, and 5 work exactly the same as 20, 30, and 50.
Is my progress saved if I close the tab?
Yes — everything is stored in this browser's local storage automatically and will still be there next time you open the page.
Can I track multiple separate projects?
This tracker is built for one project's milestones at a time; for multiple projects at once, see the Project Portfolio Tracker instead.
