File Tagging Tool
Upload files, assign custom tags to each one, filter your batch by tag, and export a filename-to-tags manifest for later reference.
How to use File Tagging Tool
- Start by providing the required input: Drop files to tag.
- Set the inputs and options shown here: Filter by tag.
- This tool has no separate run button; its results update as you add or change the input.
- Review the results, then choose an output control: Export Tag Manifest (CSV).
Organizing files by meaning, not just by folder
A folder structure forces every file into exactly one location, but files often belong to multiple overlapping categories at once — "invoice," "q3," and "urgent" might all apply to the same document. Tagging lets a file belong to several categories simultaneously, filterable however you need at any given moment.
Why the exported manifest matters
Tags you assign here exist only in this session unless exported — downloading the filename-to-tags CSV gives you a permanent record you can keep, search, or re-import into another system later.
Are tags saved automatically, or do I need to export them?
Tags exist only for the current session — export the CSV manifest if you want to keep a permanent record of what you tagged.
Can a file have multiple tags?
Yes — enter as many comma-separated tags as you want per file, and filter by any one of them using the dropdown.
Does tagging modify the actual files?
No — tags exist only in this tool's manifest; the files themselves are never changed.
