About this tool
Cropping cuts away the edges of the picture to change its shape or to remove something you do not want in frame, such as black bars, a watermark area or empty space. Unlike resizing, cropping does not scale anything: the pixels inside the box are kept as they are, and the output is exactly the size of the box.
Use the ratio buttons to snap the box to a common shape, then drag it to frame your subject. The scrubber under the preview lets you pick the frame you want to check against.

How large a video can I use?
Because the video is processed on your device, the limit is your device's memory rather than a server quota. Phone clips of several hundred MB are fine on most devices, and desktop computers usually handle 1 to 2 GB. Files over about 4 GB are not supported.
Which browsers work best?
Current Chrome, Edge and Safari (16.4 or newer, including iPhone and iPad) work best because they include the WebCodecs video engine. Recent Firefox versions work for many files. Older browsers fall back to a much slower real-time mode or may not work at all.
What is the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping removes part of the picture and keeps the rest at its original pixel size. Resizing scales the entire picture to a different size.
How do I make a vertical 9:16 video from a horizontal one?
Choose the 9:16 ratio and drag the box over the part of the frame you want to keep. If you would rather keep the whole picture with a blurred background instead of cutting it, use the Video Aspect Ratio Converter.
