About this tool
Trimming removes the unwanted beginning and end of a video. This tool offers two ways to do it. The default is a frame-accurate cut: the clip is re-encoded so it starts and ends exactly where you chose. The optional lossless mode copies the original video data without re-encoding, which is instant and keeps perfect quality, but it can only begin on a keyframe, so the clip may start up to a few seconds early.
Type times as minutes and seconds (like 1:23.5), use the sliders, or press Now to grab the current playback position while you scrub the preview.

Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs inside your browser tab using your own device's video hardware. Your file is never sent to ToolsCrow or anyone else, which also means there is no waiting for an upload and it keeps working if your connection drops after the page has loaded.
Is it really free? Is there a watermark?
It is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limits. The only limits are the ones your device sets: memory and processing power.
How large a video can I use?
Because the video is processed on your device, the limit is your device's memory rather than a server quota. Phone clips of several hundred MB are fine on most devices, and desktop computers usually handle 1 to 2 GB. Files over about 4 GB are not supported.
Which browsers work best?
Current Chrome, Edge and Safari (16.4 or newer, including iPhone and iPad) work best because they include the WebCodecs video engine. Recent Firefox versions work for many files. Older browsers fall back to a much slower real-time mode or may not work at all.
Why does the lossless cut start earlier than I asked?
Compressed video stores full pictures (keyframes) only every few seconds, and the frames between them depend on those keyframes. A copy-based cut has to start on a keyframe. For an exact cut, leave Lossless off; the tool re-encodes the clip.
Why is it fast, or slow, on my device?
Speed depends on whether your device has hardware video encoding, which most phones and laptops from the last several years do. A short phone clip usually finishes in seconds. Very long, 4K or high-frame-rate videos take longer, and the progress bar shows an estimate.
