About the Audio Waveform Generator

The Audio Waveform Generator turns audio into a shareable waveform image — mirrored bars, bars from the bottom, a smooth filled wave or a circular design — with your own gradient colours and a transparent or solid background. Use it for podcast artwork, social media audiograms, video overlays, website headers and music promotion.

Download as a transparent PNG for layers, or as a resolution-independent SVG you can scale for print.

How the Audio Waveform Generator works

The tool computes a min/max amplitude envelope for as many columns as your bar width and gap allow, normalises it to the loudest part and draws it with a gentle power curve (exponent 0.85) so quiet passages remain visible. The same shape list is drawn to a canvas for PNG and serialised to SVG elements for vector output.

Tips for the best results

  • Use SVG for print and scalable web graphics; PNG for video overlays with transparency.
  • Thin bars with a 2 px gap look elegant; thick rounded bars look bold.
  • Choose a square size for Instagram and a wide one for banners.

Common problems & fixes

Waveform looks flatNormalised to the loudest part; a single spike can flatten the rest — trim it out first.
