Record from your microphone and export a clean WAV or MP3 file. Recording, conversion and download all happen locally on your device.

How to use the Audio Recorder

  1. Allow the microphonePress the red button; your browser asks for permission once. Pick the microphone and decide whether to enable echo cancellation, noise suppression or auto gain.
  2. RecordWatch the live waveform, pause or stop whenever you like.
  3. Trim and downloadThe recording opens in the editor below — trim the start and end, preview and download as MP3 or WAV.

About the Audio Recorder

The Audio Recorder records from your microphone in the browser and gives you a clean MP3 or WAV with no software to install. A live waveform shows your level as you speak, so you can catch a too-quiet mic or a clipping input before it is too late.

Afterwards the editor opens with the recording loaded: trim the lead-in and tail, remove rumble, normalise to −16 LUFS, then download. Nothing leaves your device.

How the Audio Recorder works

Audio is captured with the browser’s MediaRecorder API (Opus in WebM, Ogg or MP4 depending on the browser) from a MediaStream with echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain individually switchable — they are off by default for the most natural sound. The recording is decoded to samples, so the same editor and encoder as the other tools can trim and export it.

Tips for the best results

  • Record in a quiet, soft room (a closet works) and keep the mic 15–20 cm away.
  • Turn noise suppression on only for noisy rooms — it can affect quality.
  • Keep levels peaking around −12 dB in the live waveform; red means clipping.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No — it stays in your browser.

How long can I record?

Limited by memory; hours are fine on desktops.

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No — recording, format conversion and download all happen locally in your browser using the MediaRecorder and Web Audio APIs.

Why does it ask for microphone permission?

Browsers require explicit permission before any website can access your microphone. ToolsCrow never stores or transmits your audio.

Which format should I choose?

WAV gives you the exact, uncompressed recording. MP3 is smaller and easier to share, with a small, usually inaudible quality trade-off.

Your audio never leaves your device

This tool runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared — there is no server to send your file to, so it works offline once the page has loaded.

What users are saying

Khan jee

Does exactly what it says, no nonsense.

Hit record, hit stop, download. WAV or MP3, your pick. Everything runs locally in the browser so nothing gets uploaded anywhere, which is the main reason I kept using it over other recorders. No account, no waiting, just works. Simple and fast, exactly what a recorder should be.
