Audit Inventory Report Generator
Upload a batch of files and generate a formal inventory report — file name, size, SHA-256 hash, and last-modified date for each — ready to export as evidence documentation.
How to use Audit Inventory Report Generator
- Start by providing the required input: Drop files to include in the audit inventory.
- Set the inputs and options shown here: Report title.
- Run the tool with Generate Report.
- Review the results, then choose an output control: Export as Text, Export as CSV.
Creating audit evidence from files, not from a log that may not exist
Not every situation has a pre-existing audit log to summarize — sometimes you need to document the current state of a set of files as evidence: what existed, what size it was, what its content hash was, as of a specific moment. This generates exactly that kind of inventory report directly from real files.
Why SHA-256 hashes belong in an audit report
A file's hash is cryptographic proof of its exact content at the time the report was generated — useful for later proving a file wasn't altered, or for comparing against a future state to show what changed.
Is this suitable for compliance documentation?
It produces a solid technical inventory (name, size, hash, modified date) that many compliance processes use as a building block, but check your specific requirements before relying on it as complete documentation.
Already have an audit log to summarize instead?
Use the Audit Report Summarizer, which turns existing log data into an executive summary rather than generating a new inventory.
How long does hashing take for many files?
It scales with total file size and runs entirely in your browser — a handful of documents takes seconds; very large batches will take proportionally longer.
