Real statistics, not just a total and a count
Knowing a folder's total size and file count tells you little about the shape of that data — are most files similar in size, or is it dominated by a few outliers skewing the average. Computing mean, median, standard deviation, and percentiles across file sizes answers that properly, the way a statistician would look at it rather than a file browser.
Why median often matters more than mean here
A handful of very large files can pull the average (mean) file size up dramatically while barely affecting the median — comparing the two quickly reveals whether a folder's size is driven by a few big outliers or spread evenly across most files.
What do the percentile values (P10, P50, P90, etc.) mean?
P90, for example, means 90% of files are at or below that size — percentiles describe the full shape of the size distribution, not just one summary number.
