How to use Missing File Sequence Detector
- Start by providing the required input: Drop the numbered files.
- No additional settings need to be configured.
- This tool has no separate run button; its results update as you add or change the input.

The gap in a numbered sequence that's easy to miss by eye
Scrolling through a folder of 200 sequentially numbered photos or exports to spot that number 047 is missing is slow and error-prone. Parsing the numeric pattern in every filename and checking the full expected range against what's actually present catches gaps instantly, no matter how long the sequence.
How the pattern detection works
Filenames are grouped by their non-numeric prefix and suffix (everything around the number), so a batch like photo001.jpg through photo050.jpg is recognized as one sequence automatically, with no need to specify the pattern yourself.
What if my files have multiple numbered sequences mixed together?
Each distinct prefix/suffix combination is treated as its own separate sequence and checked independently.
Does zero-padding matter?
No — 7, 07, and 007 are all recognized as the same number; the padding width is detected automatically from your existing files for reporting missing ones consistently.
