How to use Missing Data Detector
- Start by providing the required input: Drop a CSV file. Use Load Sample to try example data first.
- No additional settings need to be configured.
- This tool has no separate run button; its results update as you add or change the input.
- Review the results, then choose an output control: Export Incomplete Rows.
The empty cells that break an import three steps later
A CSV with a few blank required fields often imports fine into a spreadsheet and fails — or worse, silently succeeds with bad data — once it hits a stricter system downstream. Checking completeness per column before that happens catches the gap while it's still cheap to fix.
Reading the completeness bars
A column sitting well below 100% complete is either optional by design or a sign that data collection has a gap worth investigating — the visual bar makes which columns need attention obvious at a glance across a wide dataset.
Does this distinguish between "empty" and "zero"?
Yes — a cell containing the number 0 or the text "0" is treated as filled; only genuinely blank cells count as missing.
Can I export just the problem rows?
Yes — the CSV export includes only rows with at least one missing field, along with exactly which columns are missing in each.
What about missing files in a numbered sequence, not CSV data?
Use the Missing File Sequence Detector instead, built specifically for finding gaps in numbered filenames.
