Document Splitter
Split a large text file by line count, or a PDF by page count, into multiple smaller files — downloaded together as a zip.
How to use Document Splitter
- Start by providing the required input: Drop a text file; Drop a PDF.
- Set the inputs and options shown here: Lines per chunk, Pages per chunk.
- Run the tool with Split Text File or Split PDF.
- Review the completion message and check your browser downloads for the generated file or archive.
Breaking a large document down into manageable pieces
A huge log file or a long scanned PDF is often unwieldy to work with as a single unit — slow to open, awkward to share, too large for an upload limit. Splitting by line count (for text) or page count (for PDFs) produces a set of smaller files that are each easier to handle individually.
Why PDF splitting rebuilds pages rather than just slicing bytes
Each output PDF is reconstructed as a genuinely valid, standalone PDF document containing just its assigned page range — not a raw byte split, which would produce a broken file — so every resulting piece opens and prints normally on its own.
Does splitting reduce overall file size?
Not meaningfully — the total content is the same, just divided into more files; splitting is about manageability, not compression.
Will text formatting be preserved when splitting a text file?
Yes — lines are split exactly as they appear; no reformatting or content changes happen during the split.
How are the split files delivered?
As a single zip archive containing every piece, ready to extract and use individually.
