Export Organizer
Drop in a pile of dated export files (daily/weekly reports, backups) and this auto-detects the date in each filename, then organizes them into a clean year/month structure.
How to use Export Organizer
- Start by providing the required input: Drop dated export files.
- No additional settings need to be configured.
- Run the tool with Detect Dates & Preview.
- Review the results, then choose an output control: Download Organized Zip.
Sorting a pile of dated reports automatically
Recurring exports — daily sales reports, weekly backups — pile up in a download folder with dates buried in their filenames, awkward to browse chronologically without manual sorting. Detecting the date in each filename and organizing everything into a year/month structure makes the pile navigable again.
What happens to files with no detectable date
Not every export follows a clean date-in-filename pattern — anything that doesn't match is placed into an "unsorted" folder in the output rather than silently dropped, so nothing gets lost even when the date detection doesn't find a match.
What date formats are detected?
YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY_MM_DD, YYYYMMDD, and MM-DD-YYYY — the most common patterns used in automated export filenames.
Does this rename the files, or just organize them into folders?
Only the folder structure changes — filenames themselves stay exactly as they were, just placed into the appropriate year/month folder.
Does this modify my original files?
No — it builds a new, separately organized zip; your original files are untouched.
