Blur or censor part of an image in your browser
Use this free tool to blur faces, pixelate license plates and black out text in photos and screenshots before you share them. Drag over the area you want to hide, pick Blur, Pixelate, Black or a colour, and repeat for as many areas as you need. Each hidden area can be moved, changed or deleted later.
The effect is applied at the full resolution of your picture when you download, so the hidden parts stay properly hidden and the rest of the image stays sharp. Everything is done in your browser. The photo you are trying to protect is never uploaded.
Which effect should I use? Blur and pixelate look natural and work well for faces and backgrounds. For anything you must not leak, such as passwords, bank details, ID numbers, addresses and small text, choose the solid Black block, because it removes the original pixels completely.
How it works
Add your picture
Choose a photo or screenshot, or paste one from the clipboard.
Draw over what to hide
Drag on the picture. Pick Blur, Pixelate, Black or a colour, and a rectangle or an oval.
Download
Save the result as PNG, JPG or WebP at full resolution.
Frequently asked questions
Can the hidden part be recovered?
With a solid Black or colour block, no, because the original pixels are replaced. Blur and pixelate remove most detail, but small or simple text can sometimes be partly recovered, so use a solid block for sensitive data. Always download the new file and share that one, not the original.
Does it find faces automatically?
No. You choose the areas yourself, which keeps everything private and works on every device. Draw an oval over each face for a natural result.
Will the rest of the picture lose quality?
No. Only the areas you draw are changed. PNG keeps everything exactly, while JPG and WebP use the quality you choose.
Can I move or resize an area?
You can drag an area to move it. To change the size, delete it and draw it again.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Drag with your finger over the area you want to hide.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The picture stays on your device.
