Compress an image to the exact size limit you need
Upload forms, job portals, exam sites and email systems often reject a photo for being "too large". This free image compressor lets you type the limit, such as 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB or 1 MB, and finds the best-looking JPG or WebP that fits under it. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos and ID pictures are never uploaded.
For each image the tool first tries high quality and steps down until the file fits. If quality alone cannot reach a very small target, it can also reduce the picture dimensions a little, and it shows you the final size in KB and the new width and height. You stay in control: choose a maximum side length, or switch off resizing to keep the original dimensions.
Compress many images in one go and download them together as a ZIP. Small tip: for a photo that must be under 20 KB, a plain background and a modest pixel size such as 300 by 400 compress far better than a busy, high-resolution picture.

Frequently asked questions
Can it hit the exact size I type?
It aims for the largest quality that still fits under your target, so the result is usually within a few percent below it and never above it (unless the image cannot get that small, which the tool tells you). A file cannot be made exactly 50.0 KB on purpose, because the compressed size depends on the picture itself.
Will the image quality drop?
Yes, a little. Getting a big photo down to 20 or 50 KB means lossy compression and sometimes a smaller picture. The tool tries the highest quality first and only lowers the dimensions when quality alone is not enough. Switch off "Allow resizing" if you want to keep the original pixel size and accept lower quality instead.
Why is JPG or WebP the only output?
Those are the formats that can be squeezed to a chosen size. PNG is lossless, so it has no quality setting to lower. If your PNG has no transparency, JPG will be much smaller. If it does have transparency, choose WebP to keep it.
What if my file is already smaller than the target?
The tool leaves it as it is and says so, because re-compressing a small file only makes it look worse. If you need a different format, change the format and run it again with a lower target.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens in your browser using the same engine your phone or computer uses to save photos. Your pictures never leave your device.
Which sizes are common for forms and portals?
Many exam and job portals ask for photos and signatures under 20, 50 or 100 KB, and scanned documents under 200 KB to 1 MB. Check the exact width, height and format that the portal asks for. This tool handles the file size, and the Passport Photo Maker or Canvas Extender can help with the dimensions.
Can I compress many images at once?
Yes, up to 30 images at a time, each with the same target. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
