About this tool
A fade softens the edges of a clip: opening from black gives a gentle start, and fading out avoids an abrupt stop. Set the length of each fade with the sliders (up to half the video, maximum 10 seconds), and choose whether the audio fades too.
Fades are applied to every frame in the fade window and to the audio samples, then the video is re-encoded at a quality that matches the source.

How large a video can I use?
Because the video is processed on your device, the limit is your device's memory rather than a server quota. Phone clips of several hundred MB are fine on most devices, and desktop computers usually handle 1 to 2 GB. Files over about 4 GB are not supported.
Which browsers work best?
Current Chrome, Edge and Safari (16.4 or newer, including iPhone and iPad) work best because they include the WebCodecs video engine. Recent Firefox versions work for many files. Older browsers fall back to a much slower real-time mode or may not work at all.
How long should a fade be?
0.5 to 1 second for a subtle finish, 2 to 3 seconds for a cinematic feel.
Can I fade between two clips?
Not with this tool. It fades a single video from and to black.
