Ownership Analyzer

Upload a file manifest that includes an owner column — like a shared drive export — to see storage used per person and spot orphaned files.

Load Manifest (CSV)

Drop a CSV with columns for file name, size, and owner Column names are auto-detected (e.g. "owner", "size", "name")

How to use Ownership Analyzer

  1. Start by providing the required input: Drop a CSV with columns for file name, size, and owner. Use Load Sample to try example data first.
  2. No additional settings need to be configured.
  3. This tool has no separate run button; its results update as you add or change the input.
  4. Review the results, then choose an output control: Export Breakdown.

Making sense of a shared drive export

Admin exports from Google Drive, SharePoint, or Dropbox routinely include an owner column buried in thousands of rows — useful data that's hard to interpret as a raw spreadsheet. Breaking it down by owner instantly shows who holds how much storage and surfaces orphaned files with no clear owner at all.

What counts as "orphaned"

Any file row with a blank or missing owner field is grouped under "Unassigned" and called out specifically, since orphaned files are often the ones nobody remembers to clean up or hand off when someone leaves a team.

What columns does my CSV need?

At minimum a column recognizable as "owner" (or user/author); a size column and a name/file column improve the breakdown but aren't strictly required.

Does this connect directly to Google Drive or SharePoint?

No — it works from a CSV export you already have, so there's no account connection or live access involved.

Can I export the breakdown?

Yes — download it as a CSV listing each owner's file count and total storage for reporting or follow-up.
