Find and replace without opening a text editor
Sometimes you just need a quick substitution in a block of text or a single file — no editor to open, no document to save afterward. Pasting text directly, running a find-and-replace, and copying the result back out is often faster than switching applications for a one-off edit.
When to use regex versus plain text matching
Plain matching is predictable and safe for literal text; regex unlocks pattern-based replacement — stripping all digits, matching any whitespace, capturing and reusing parts of the matched text — for the cases a literal find can't handle.
Is the find value treated as plain text or regex by default?
Plain text by default — regex is used only if you explicitly enable the "treat as regex" option.
Does this replace all occurrences or just the first?
All occurrences in the text are replaced in one pass, not just the first match.
Need to apply several different replacements at once?
Use the Batch Text Replacer instead, which applies a whole list of find/replace rules in one pass.
