A fast sanity check before a full comparison
Not every folder comparison needs full content hashing — sometimes you just need to confirm "did everything copy over" after a transfer, which filename and size alone can usually answer in a fraction of the time. This tool compares both folders by name and size instantly, with no hashing delay.
When size-only comparison isn't enough
Two files can share a name and an identical size while having genuinely different content — a rare but real edge case. If that distinction matters for your situation, the hash-based Folder Compare Report is the more rigorous option.
Why would I use this over the hash-based comparison?
Speed — comparing by name and size needs no file reading at all, making it near-instant even on folders with thousands of files, where hashing would take noticeably longer.
What does "Size differs" mean exactly?
A file with the same relative path exists in both folders, but its byte size doesn't match — a strong (though not absolute) signal the content changed.
Does folder selection work the same on all browsers?
Folder picking via webkitdirectory is well-supported in Chrome, Edge, and most Chromium-based browsers; support varies in other browsers.
