Convert electrical resistance between microohms, milliohms, ohms, kilohms, megohms and gigohms. Resistor values, insulation tests and low-resistance contacts all span many orders of magnitude, so a fast converter avoids costly mistakes.
Ohm's law ties resistance to the voltage and current converters, and to power.
Convert a 4.7 kΩ or 1 MΩ resistor value into ohms for calculations and simulations.
Read megohm and gigohm results from insulation-resistance testers.
Handle milliohm and microohm contact, shunt and busbar resistances.
mΩ (milliohm) is one-millionth of MΩ (megohm). Uppercase M is mega, lowercase m is milli.
R = V ÷ I. A 5 V source across 1 kΩ drives 5 mA.
One kilohm equals 1,000 ohms.
Multiply by 1,000,000. For example, 2.2 MΩ is 2,200,000 Ω.
A milliohm is one-thousandth of an ohm, used for very low resistances such as shunts and connections.
Notation like 4K7 means 4.7 kΩ and 2M2 means 2.2 MΩ, avoiding a decimal point that could be lost on a schematic.
